Julian Sands is a good actor, and it was wonderful to see a name like him on our show. But him looking so completely the opposite of Clark, just really kept taking me out of the story. Even if JS had dyed his hair or worn a wig...he'd still look like Oliver's father with dyed hair or a wig! But it was fun to see JS anyway - maybe he'll be back in hologram form someday?
Though, I have to laugh at his "I got your back" line. Yes, you do. You have his back---in sight---while you proceed to shoot him with an arrow. Yes, yes, me being nitpicky again I suppose, though I'm not sure when I'm going to be able to let this one go. Heh, I know! Wish Clark had called him on it, (though TW didn't exactly radiate warmth or gratitude as Oliver said it, which was a good acting choice.)
I'm also glad he was obvioysly as irritated by Chloe and Oliver' self righteous lecturing and just cut them mid sentence by zipping away. He needs to do that more often when SV people get tedious!

You're right, it was a good acting choice there. But still, I'd love to know if the writers deliberately put that line in there or are they really that oblivious?
I'm kind of with you on this. There were some great ideas but the execution in terms of dialogue and pacing just fell flat for me. And I don't like the way they jerked Clark's emotions all over the place here.
I think that scene with Clark at Jor-El's grave with him burning the "S" symbol and talking about Zod might have been my favorite of the episode (though I also thought the desert scene where he used the superbreath to uncover the "S" shield was good as well - I LOVE when they let Clark be smart).
The use of his powers was done very nicely in this ep, I agree. And as apprehensive as I was about bringing in Zod as a series regular at the start of the season, I have to say, I'm happy to be wrong. At least so far, he hasn't disappointed at all.
//I'm never letting it go. Never! I'll be gumming my food in a nursing home, and still chattering on about how wrong that scene was. LOL//
I'll probably be right there with you.
//I think all this Zod stuff pre-dated Davis. But maybe this explains why he made Davis.//
That makes sense. But then, didn't the wife die as well? Was he married to someone else prior to Faora? I can't recall if I remember anything about this from the comics.
I'm left scratching my head about, how come Zod had his memory intact after it all? Also, was the son in question Davis?
Zod has more of a memory than the rest of the soldiers because of when their blood was taken. The soldiers gave theirs on the battlefield in the very first flashback, but Jor-El stopped it before they could take Zod's. His wasn't taken until the final flashback scene when Jor-El refused to include his son's DNA in the Orb.
As for the son - and wife - no, it wasn't Davis and/or Faora. This was a first wife and son not previously mentioned. But there's probably a good chance that his original son's DNA was used in creating Davis.

And same for the Davis thing. Thanks! Do we know who his wife was at this point though? I'm guessing not.
