I wasn't overly enamoured with the episode either, but for me the comedic moments made up for a lo of the wtf-ery. From the great Clois scenes (because I loved all of them) to the two hilarious Chlark scenes (shower and sex-with-humans talk), loved the "small-talk" between Clark and Oliver, and then the set as he final Clois scene.
And then the Tess/Zod stuff was actually a pleasant surprise strictly for the way their scenes were all about Clark. I don't know what it says about Tess that Clark has manhandled/almost killed her on more than one occassion and she still defends him. I guess part of it goes to her childhood, but it's kind of disturbing in a really interesting way. I thought for sure after Persuasion that she wouldn't be on his side anymore, but I guess maybe she figured out he was "on something". Weird but intriguing, at least to me.

You're definitely right with the 'wierd, but intriguing' observation. That's Tess in a nutshell, eh? Heh. CF just continues to rock it out every eps she's in and I'm so grateful for her presence on the show.
Hee, sometimes it feels like you and Val are the same person, posting on different journals. I read both your reviews back to back, and I was amused at how similar they were. :D
I agree with you re: the wastage of another DC character, but other than that, I actually quite enjoyed the episode. Like I told Val, I guess I'm just not that invested anymore to get frustrated about anything. I lost all hope at the end of S8, and now I'm just watching episode by episode. I don't really care about the bigger picture anymore, and with more and more confirmation that S10 isn't going to be any more focused than this one, I really can't bother giving a damn anymore.

Heh, I'm not at all surprised. I'm certainly looking forward even more now though, to reading the review.

I think with this show, at this point? This is probably the healthiest attitude to adopt. I can't help myself getting riled up by certain things though, even though I realize that I should know better.
And also agreed that about S10. Aside from feeling proud of the show for actually proving naysayers wrong and getting there, I'm not very optimistic at all that the showrunners will have the good sense to treat it as 'This.is.It' - and therefore no fucking about.
Pretty much sharing the brain on this one. Are you shocked? LOL
I found this ep too 'shippy for me to really get into. Especially when none of the 'ships are really ringing my bells. Can I switch people up a bit? Yeah, probably not :(
And it certainly doesn't help when there appears to be zero effort put into this weeks villian. I don't even know why they bothered with a DC character.
TW just does the best "OMG, shoo, woman!" looks and mannerisms.
He really, really does. I think he's so funny when he wants to be.
Tess was my favorite part of the whole episode. Well, OK, 2nd favorite part. Tom's naked, wet chest with my first favorite. Embrace the Shallow!
//And it's really unfortunate because I rather liked the little we got to see of Odessa Rae, who was cast as Siobhan. I feel like if they wanted to introduce the Silver Banshee, they could and should have done so in a different episode
( ... )
Yeah, Chlollie is just really not working for me, and you're right, on some level it does seem as if Chloe is using Oliver. But then they go and throw that 'deeper connection' nonsense with them this ep. Whatever.
I agree with you on Clois that they've just started dating and are taking it fun and easy, and I don't mind that. But I can also completely see why some people would argue that there's a lack of passion there because in one too many scenes, I'm afraid there is. For a new couple, and especially a relationship where stuff like 'forever' is being bandied about, you expect more. And it's not like these two aren't capable of it ('Rabid', 'Conspiracy') but the writers really need to set a more consistent tone with them.

Heh. I had a feeling you'd be as apathetic on this one as I was.
//I don't even know why they bothered with a DC character.//
Exactly. Why even bother acknowledging it as The Silver Banshee?
//Embrace the Shallow!//
Preach it!
