No, I'm not looking forward to the finale either. Kinda dreading it, actually.

I think I'm over Red K too, because I think the writers forgot how to write it.

Still, Tom remembers how to play it, so there's that.

But honestly, here in this episode, it just seemed like it was utilized for some pretty lame reasons.

And wouldn't it have been almost refreshing if it weren't the case? To go a different way and have this Zod ultimately prove Clark right.YES! It sure would've been. And I think it would've made for a great storyline. The Zod we have now is a Zod that can still be saved. And how amazing would it have been to have Clark be the one to save him. Of course, I still wouldn't expect him to survive, but it would've been so wonderful to have Clark's belief in someone rewarded with success. Because honestly, if Clark is constantly taking an approach that is doomed to failure, how does that instill faith in us that he'll be a great Superman? I think we need a bit more then a tender heart, and good intentions. And if they keep undercutting Clark by propping up other characters at his expense.... ( ... )

True, true. He did do a marvelous job this ep.

God, Val, I just don't even know where to begin on the wasted opportunity that was this Zod storyline. Right up until this ep even, till the last scene, I saw hope. And then of course, we got--::that:: ::sighs::

//Then what kind of message does that ultimately send?//

What we've known for a while now, sadly, that TPTB just don't give a damn when it comes to Clark.

It makes me both angry and sad that evidently there is no one in the writers room who speaks for Clark, who stands up and says, "hey, we're totally undermining Clark here." I just can't wrap my mind around a show that doesn't want to put the main character and hero first, and let him be right, and be someone we can all cheer for, and celebrate his triumphs. How messed up is that ( ... )

If the show has managed to turn such normally positive viewers like yourself, then I know it's not just me and it really must be doing a crapper of a job. ::sighs::

//I dislike Chloe as much as I ever disliked Lana now.//

I have to say, I find Chloe far more problematic. With Lana, in the later years at least it was at times acknowledged that ther's something off there and she'd get called out for stuff, by Lionel or Chloe, even Clark once. And there was a general sense in the storyline that this isn't quite right and the repurcussions she'd face in later seasons, right up until her last eps, were quite serious. With Chloe I just feel like she never gets called out on anything. I miss the days of her humility, circa S3, because it sure as hell's been missing for years and years now. With Chloe I get the sense that despite all the massive shit she's pulled all through S8 and 9, she'll somehow always emerge the writers hero. And that fear, makes me resent her as a character far more than I ever did Lana.
