Suddenly Kara' the appointed savior and she's---OK with it? She doesn't question it? Does she believe her experiences in the PZ earned her this? The whole storyline and character return was so clumsily handled, I have no idea what to think. And then some of the dialogue - "you are not ready." Yes! She was suddenly an entirely different character and LV, who I like, seemed somewhat at sea as to how to play her. I miss the cheeky energy from S7. And in Bloodline, though the mood was graver, she still seemed like the same person. I couldn't connect with her at all here & wonder if the writer even bothered to watch her episodes.
Now that you mention it, yeah, there was definitely something off with the way LV was playing it, too. And ICAM, that it seemed that the writer did zero research on Kara' previous outings. That's just poor form.
And to make matters worse, Kara returns with a worst 'tude than the one she (understandably, in hindsight) carried in early S7. She's arrogant and frankly? Stupid. So true.
I'd much rather believe that 'Bloodline' was the last we saw of Kara. Now that was how you do a cousin reunion and make Kara interesting and relevant, yet retain Clark' importance. This and Bloodline are almost diametrically opposed, aren't they? Clark was completely in charge, knew what needed to be done and did it. Here he was just so... powerless. And not like mortal powerless because he's usually still all kinds of heroic even in episodes where he has not powers.
Is it too strong to say that TPTB basically emasculated him this episode?
And speaking of Bloodline, where the hell is John Jones in all this. He's Jor-El's old buddy. He should know what this great dark threat is and yet he's completely MIA. I'd like to think Jor-El is freezing the Martian out of all this because Jones still has faith in Clark.

Such a great observation, and ITA. Jon Johns is a character whose POV we could really use right now. I wonder if TPTB have simply---forgotten? That he exists?
