What an amazing writer you are! This is a wonderfully well written review and I enjoyed reading it. Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts in such a great manner!
I agree with most of what you say and I'm very proud of how incredibly well you and some other friends articulate your comments: *Applauds*
Great review. I totally agree with you on the contrivance of the "darkness" crap being used just to set this episode up. And I don't care what anyone says, that is NOT good writing. Even if the pay-off episode is good.
Oliver is such a problematic character on this show.
My issues with this ep went beyond yours, but I certainly agree with you that this ep did have a lot of good moments in it, and Tom was magnificent.
And the thing is, and here's my real concern - I'm worried this isn't even the payoff. Yes, we've gotten this ep, and we seem to have Clark moving on, but who's to say a few eps down the line when the Darkseid storyline picks up, it won't be revisited? Because I honestly think it will. I hope to be proven wrong, but there you have it.

TW makes up for a lot, but yeah, as much as I did love the stuff I did, I just can't ignore the stuff that bothered me either. I try to do the switch on/off thing, but it's difficult to achieve, for me. I'm also bothered by the fact that I still haven't found my this years 'instinct', 'Committed' or 'Rabid' - eps from the first half of less than stellar seasoms which still managed to Wow me.
I'm glad you were able to enjoy the review though, and if you ever do want to talk about the ep, I'm here.
//In fairness to Brian & Kelly regarding the secret: in a recent interview post-episode they said they talked in the writers room about having Clark tell Lois his secret in the ending scene - he was going to tell her he was The Blur along with the ILY. But in the end, they decided to just have the scene be about the two of them simply loving each other and the emotion of that in that moment and not throw the secret in there too since the secret was never something that defined Clark and Lois' relationship on SV

Lovely review. While I liked the episode very much I wasn't entirely bowled over for various reasons.
The future flash forward felt like it was a cheat in a lot of ways. What risks remain for Clark if he knows upfront he's going to live his dream life? Courage isn't needed to do the right thing if you already know the outcome. Superman is supposed to be the definition of courage. Clark has exhibited an amazing amount courage so many times over the past ten years. Why do they have to take that from him?
The secret stuff, IDK. It didn't bother me too much because it seemed like Clark just wanted to savor that moment. Thanks to his visit to the future he already knows that not only will he tell Lois (and when he'll tell her) but that when he does it's an amazing moment for her. I've decided he just wants to get it right That said I can completely see where secret fatigue comes from. I don't want it to continue dragging but I'm afraid it will. Being mostly unspoiled at this point I'm going to guess they'll save the reveal as the cliff

Excellent point!

Yeah, I think they're going to stretch it out too, which, ugh. The show hates us, clearly.
