The parts of the episode with exception of Oliver, you liked I liked. Imo Tess, Cat, and the revel someone else most likely wrote were the only things worth watching in this episoed.

Tess is just awesome. Her presence instantly makes an ep more interesting. And Cat has been a wonderful addition so far.

'Homecoming' might have been the superior ep - it still left me uneasy, and with certain apprehensions and frustrations as a viewer and Clark fan. 'Isis', OTOH, left me with a smile on my face, and didn't actively aggravate me. At this point, with the kind of SV viewer I think I'm becoming (become?) I appreciate being at peace with an ep, more than anything else.
Perfectly said, and true for me as well. I liked the last Clois scene in Isis much better than their scenes in Homecoming because it was just....fun and didn't have the "this is YOUR future, Clark" or "Beware your DARKNESS" plot hanging over it.

And now that it's all out in the open, maybe we can have more action for a while? My nightmae is now they'll start with wedding planning....

I also think his chemistry with Tess has gotten so much better now that they're not supposed to be all into one another, and reluctant allies / frenemies instead.I know Oliver's supposed to be worried about Tess taking Chloe's place...but he seemed more irked that Tess was getting Clark's ( ... )

Yes! Exactly.

Please tell me that isn't an actual spoiler?

//I know Oliver's supposed to be worried about Tess taking Chloe's place...but he seemed more irked that Tess was getting Clark's attention, which is more entertaining!//

Heh, come to think of it, you're right. That was certainly the way JH was playing it.

You're the second person who's mentioned GS didn't write that final scene, heh. I'm no fan, trust me, I've moreorless hated her eps thus far, but maybe she just hit some right notes here? Even the crappiest of writers can sometimes strike gold.

Tess' storyline is shaping up to be the one to watch this season.

//My feeling is, no way GS wrote the secret reveal scene because she has never shown that much insight into Clark's character before - via the monologue he gave to Lois when revealing the secret. Even in this very episode, during the Isis-plot bits, Clark was just mostly standing around listening to other people, mostly Oliver and Tess, talk than offering much of any insight himself. Tom mostly comes off as utterly bored and passive in episodes she writes because of this too. //

I hear ya.

I'm glad you had fun with the episode! I enjoyed a few moments and a couple of scenes but I found the rest of it awful! The Isis plot was boring and stupid and Oliver and his "epic love story" takes away any excitement I could be feeling. Unfortunately, the Tess/ clone!Lex storyline doesn't interest me either. Luckily I like Cat Grant and that made the episode watching a little less painful.

I think this writer shouldn't write for Clark ever! As for yet another character flying instead of Clark... that alone would make me dislike any episode and it's another reason to hate this one.

Of course your review is wonderfully written, as usual!

Aw, thanks Carol. I appreciate that very much. ::hugs::

The writer's track record thus far, you're absolutely right, has been dreadful. Which is why I'm so surprised I was able to enjoy any of it!

Cat is fun, isn't she. I like what she brings to an ep.

I know exactly what you mean when you say that you might have found this ep more entertaining then Homecoming. Last weeks episode left me feeling really unsettled about the writing choices that these showrunners make. Isis might have been a pointless cheeseball of a plot, but at least it doesn't create so many issues with the bigger picture writing for Clark going on.

And I understand why this episode could garner a positive response based solely on the secret reveal, and the Tess stuff. Because both of those elements of the show were really, really strong. And its easy to forgive a lot when the show gives you scenes that you can really hang your hat on. For me, the scene of Tess and little Alexander was more moving then anything I saw last week. And yes, there is something a tad creepy about little Alexander, but then on the other hand, he is just a child. Its a storyline I'm really invested in.

This is exactly it.

Tess' storyline is certainly the most engaging and compelling at the moment. I'm honestly curious as to where it all leads.
