A very good review. Clark was written very strongly and as THE central character I liked his interactions with everyone. Even though this episode was largely about Lois's family it was still all about Clark, and that is how all the episodes should be. I think another character can have the focus however the episode should tie back to Clark, and from the previews it looks like next episode will do the same. As for the question at the end, Yes imo it does have something to do with Lois, it plays into Clark being an old fashion guy.

Exactly. Like you said in your review, it's about finding balance. And when an ep gets that right, it's usually smooth sailing from there.

Forgot to add this in my reply earlier, but yeah, I'm beginning to think it's probably a marriage proposal too. Don't know why I assumed it was the moving in thing, heh.
I really liked it too. I couldn't believe that Lois blamed Clark for failing with the general - 'all you had to do..." - but as you said, family often makes us act a wee bit crazy.
And the Talon blew up - real good! Lois moving in with Clark is a very real possibility.

It really does, heh. I think this was a relatable aspect of Lois' characterization they zeroed in on here.

Boom - I was not expecting that! Y'know, now that I've read others opinions on it, I think I may be off the mark on the moving in thing and it might be a proposal we're looking at here.
//It just proves that when the creative team focuses episodes around Clark and let him express his POV and don't write other characters to his detriment, that episode is more likely than not going to be a showstopper.//
Yes! It seems a simple enough formula, I'm not sure why they don't get it right more often.
Refreshing is such a great word to describe the ep and the characterization. It was much needed at this point.
And no, I don't think it's silly at all to assume a proposal - I think pretty much everyone is. In fact now I feel silly for assuming it was the whole moving in thing!
