And you know what was a great little bonus, for me? That BQM got the Clois so right in this one too.
Yep. strong Clark plus strong Clark and Lois writing makes me a happy camper.

In other words may I co-sign this review? 'Cos it's spot on.

I only had a couple of nit-picks. It's Clark's show. Don't bring Chloe back for the A-plot and give her no (real) interaction with Clark.

And no Tess. Will there be no Chloe/Tess interaction before AM moves on?

Co-sign away! :-)

I know what you mean. But, and even though I was unspoiled, I was expecting this kind of focus on her.

And I have no idea about Chloe/Tess interaction, but at this point I'd probably say, no? Then again, I have no clue what's in store, so who knows.

Great review. Like you, I thought the writing for Clark in this episode was so amazing. Which only makes me that much more angry that SV doesn’t even come close to doing this on a weekly basis…but I digress.

And this was the most enjoyable episode for me, Clois-wise, since Ambush. For me, Clois works so much better as a couple when we see them being independent of each other, yet still very together (if you know what I mean). I enjoy the snarkier banter over the sickly sweet cheerleading. I like that this episode allowed both of them to express mild irritation with each other, but in a completely affectionate way.

And what I really, really liked is that this episode allowed Clark to act in a very independent way, but also allowed Lois to have a valuable contribution.

In so many ways, I feel like BQM read my complaints about the writing for Clark, and addressed them in one episode. Amazing!

And what was really great, was that the final push to action came from Clark himself.Absolutely! I was really worried about this ( ... )

Enjoyed your review. It makes me want to watch the episode again! I love what you say about Clark having a strong voice. Your paragraph about what makes Clois fun is spot on! I hope this kind of writing continues. I thought Oliver shimmying up the wall was cute too. This was actually the best Chlollie has been for me, even though it was difficult for me to believe that Oliver would care so much about labels when Chloe is cheerfully accepting his gifts and sleeping with him. LOL! I was pleasantly surprised by some of the Desaad/Darkness developments. The use of the seven deadly sins was right in line by some of my fave meta from LJ.

Thanks. :-)

I hope this kind of writing for Clois continues too - they deserve it.

There are several factors that went into making this a strong ep, but the most standout feature was the writing for Clark.I couldn't agree more, with this and everything you say about characterization, and balance, and all the many little things that made Clark so amazing this week. Why can't everyone on the writing staff, especially the showrunners, see Clark (and Lois) through BQM's eyes ( ... )

//BQM said on Twitter that Bert and Jeff are roommates, and the thought of that is just too funny to me.//

That's adorable!

You know, T, after watching 'Fortune', I'm even more appreciative of 'Masquerade.'

You and me both. It's certainly not the first time an awesome episode was immediately followed by one that makes my head want to explode, but somehow it's even more disappointing when we have so few opportunities left for the show to get it right. :(
