To be honest, I think the Luthor thing is the best villain arc they’ve got going on the show this season. But the problem with saying that is that its competing with all these other villain arcs that have just fallen flat as a pancake, most especially the Darkseid stuff. And I really fear for how they are going to connect those 2 arcs

Because in context of Lois' ordeal at the hands of Red!K!Connor, I find it hard to believe she'd be OK with living in the same house as him. I felt like we needed some kind of talk between Clois regarding that, but I guess obviously the writers didn't agree.
Not that is really helps in the long run, because it wasn't in the episode, but there apparently was a scene in which this was addressed and it got cut. So it's at least not on the writers that we didn't get it. :)
Ah, OK. Thanks for the info! I do think they should've found a way to keep the scene in. It was a pretty big deal, what Connor put Lois through, Red!K or not, IMO.
//Why would Clark think anything other than Conner brought Lois there and now Lois is gone? I thought it was an odd directorial/acting choice because for split-second, it comes across like Clark thinks they might have had sex? That makes no sense given what he knows of Lois, even if Conner's an unknown entity for him. And if he actually thinks, for even a moment, that something untoward happened, then that makes his decision to invite Conner to stay with them at the end even weirder, IMO

I'm not really sure how I feel about all this revisiting of earlier premises. I think they meant it as a homage but it was a bit of an overkill....Lionel listening to opera in his office was also a callback to a S3 episode (right before he nearly shoots himself.)
As far as just this scene is concerned, to be fair, I didn't feel as if the writers were villifying Clark, but then they go and have Clark himself say to Connor that "if I hadn't lied to you, you wouldn't have run straight into Lionel' hands." It also was clumsy writing to have Clark having a "private" conversation when he knows the curious kid with super-hearing is right there in the barn. Too much deux ex machina in this ep.
//The whole 'Connor-falls-instantly-for-Lois' thing, complete with twinkly music in the background no less, was very reminiscent of early seasons 'stalker-of-the-weeks-obsessions-with-Lana.' //
Oh my goodness that's exactly what this was. A FOTW callback. Wow. That makes me reconsider all the stalking of Lana in a way that is seriously chilling.
Enjoyed reading your thoughts. The Luthor plot left me cold so ... it's interesting to read a positive review of that aspect of the episode. I love what you say about TW's acting in general and that moment in particular.
I can definitely see why those who aren't interested in the Luthor storyline feel the way they do. The arc has its fair share of flaws, but I suppose where I'm coming from is that it fares better in comparison to the other storylines. Make of that what you will about the actual strength of the storyline then, heh.

Still enjoyed it a lot more than Fortune though!

Ah, yes, I forgot about that one!
I agree with you - infintely better than 'Fortune', but not without its fair share of problems too.
