Will and will-power.

So, one of the texts I chose for my final popular fiction essay was The Dark is Rising and while trying to identify the relationship of the hopes/anxieties raised by the novel, I noticed something funny. Or rather something I'd already noticed now made sense in a new way. I'd already noticed that Will seemed pretty passive for a 12 year old wizard ( Read more... )

But what if I want the furniture?

Anyway, in taking a quick break from my property assignment, Will's view on Ronan being all >O!!! at the gnosis invasion -- is he just a bleeding heart liberal, falls outside the rules or what?

You're out of luck.

Actually, Will thinks Ronan having a way to help the gnosis was pretty damn awesome. He recognised them as creatures of the Dark, but there was this moment before they went when they felt gratitude and belonging -- and while that didn't alter how he approached them, because his only weapon was the Light, he was ambivalent about it. So when Ronan turned up and was all 'I have a better plan' Will reacted with full endorsement. That wanting to team up was Will wanting to support Ronan -- basically, he thinks the difference in their magic doesn't equal right or wrong, but different. So Ronan having a way of dealing with the gnosis that didn't involve crushing them with love? Better than Will's approach, so Will wanted to enable Ronan to do his ... whatever it was ... and lend him whatever strength he could. I think Will might have been fanboying a little. Anyway, he has no idea what to make of Ronan's subsequent disappearance.

I'm really glad we got to have that thread with Will and Enjolras! I'm probably going to be relatively scarce for a bit, but I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for jumping.

Will's first impression of the French dude, if you please?

Me too! The idea of Will being taught to use his laptop by Enjolras really amuses me.

Will's first impression was that Enjolras needed to smile more. Then Enjolras said when he was from and Will was all 'ah.' He's curious about Enjolras, was a little disconcerted about some of the questions he asked, but the overall impression was of someone who if a little serious, took Will seriously and when you're 12 and used to people saying 'you can't do this', that means a lot.

Actually, I'd like to do a day in the life type post with Will soon, and if you're interested in teaming up, it could be about the laptop lessons. That's only if you're not busy of course!

Day-in-the-life post would be awesome! Though my schedule is pretty weird, so. Well, anyways. I should be good for pretty much anytime on this coming (my hemisphere) Sunday, Monday or Tuesday though I am likely to be less attentive when the ball game is on, with a little less flexibility on Sunday because, y'know, weekend, so my mom is home and might be putting me to work on something during the day. |D Then I'm busy that Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Shall we aim for my Tuesday, your Monday then? I'll get more details to you when I know what I'm doing.

Will on Bikky?

After Natsuo, Bikky seems really, really normal. Will likes him, but he suspects that Bikky isn't going to get Will's habit of geeking out over history stuff so he views him more as a friend to do active boy stuff with -- exploring something or playing ball. Also I say 'friend' but I'm not sure that Will is confident they're at that stage yet. Either way, he definitely views Bikky as probable friend material.

Lovely insight.

I adore the Dark is Rising series, I have to say. It's one of the full series I've ever bought (i'm stingy about buying books) and I still pick one out to read every few months or so. :D

Oh yea. Relation meme-what! :D
