what I want to know is what ever happened to the age old rule, "Don't talk to strangers?" or, more specifically, "Don't accept gifts from strangers". This is ridiculous. It's the same exact thing that was going on years ago, only now children are being lured by technology instead of candy. And yet now it's a huge deal.

Not to say I don't see the problem, but I do think lax parenting plays a big role, here.

Seriously though, I agree. As with most instances like this, the parents are partially to blame. Though at a certain age it might begin to qualify as Darwinism. You and I were never stupid enough to get into a stranger's car. I mean, for example, what kind of thirteen year old lets an old man kidnap them from the internet? At some point the 'dumb as a post' factor comes into play irrespective of the parent's attempts at a disciplined upbringing.
