Before turning into a couch potato to watch the Academy Awards, the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art invites you to sprinkle a little stardust of your own. Galleries within the museum will be open to offer the viewing of exhibitions and artistic innovation after hours. Enjoy an evening of scintillating conversation, cocktails, DJs and dancing, and some surprise guest entertainers in a nightclub-like setting.

Vintage or all-out glamorous apparel is optional. Being your fabulous best is a plus.

Collage is sponsored by The Hartford Financial Services Group and co-hosted with The Hartford Advocate.

Energy provided by Red Bull. Martinis provided by Absolut. Beer provided by Hartford Distributors, Inc.

According to the Hartford Advocate:

With the Oscars beckoning, it only seemed fitting for someone to throw a party. Hell, it´s party time in Hollywood, so why not? The fourth installment of the Wadsworth Atheneum´s incredibly successful soiree series, Collage, takes Tinseltown to heart. Entitled Icons, the themed event pays homage to the golden age of Hollywood, and the inimitable personalities born out of that era. As always, the galleries within the museum will be open for after-hours viewing, DJs will be mixing a variety of theme-related tunes, guest entertainers will be mingling, and drinks are included in the admission price, although there will be cash bar available if the need for more adventurous libation is necessary. Vintage apparel should be mandatory, unfortunately it isn´t -- you are only encouraged to look cool. But heed my advice, despite your preconceptions that dressing up is lame, let me tell you, lame is the new cool. The party runs from 5-8 p.m., Feb. 23 at the Wadsworth Atheneum, 600 Main St., Hartford, www.wadsworthathene-um.org. (877) 600-6246. $15, $10 in advance, $5 member. -- A.B.
