Have you noticed how lately commercials seem to be promising benefits out of the advertised products' capacities? Campbell's Select Soups, for instance. The woman eats a bowl of soup and suddenly she starts glowing. So basically, Campbell's is implicitly stating that their savory meals render me capable of generating my own bioluminescence ( Read more... )

there are quite a few species of plankton that are bioluminescent.
i've seen it. it's actually pretty awesome.

Dad found some twig-like things in his Campbell's soup once. So he picked them out and mailed them to Campbell's. They sent him a letter informing him their "experts" examined the contents and determined they were "vegetable matter."

Their response included coupons for more soup.

Contradictory responses for the win!

Nothing says "we fucked up, but care too much about our image and too little about you, the dissatisfied consumer, to admit it" like a soup voucher.
