Why Spanish is so Cool

For Spanish class we had to write a 300 word composition answering the question: "How will the 21st century be different?" I figure since we're reading The House on Mango Street, we must be reading on a sixth grade level (because that's when I read that story in English class). this brought an important question to my mind; namely, why are the spanish words for "tears" and "miracles" so similar? "lagrimos" and "milagros"... same letters... all they did was remove the "im" of lagrimos, flip it, and put it at the beginning of the maimed word to form milagros.

what does this mean?
