Here's some great video taken right out in front of my house on Carnation-Duvall Rd. I'm back home now. All's well. Whole town's a mess though. More pics tomorrow of the cleanup. I stopped at the farm today and waded in to check on things. The farm cat survived and the water came within 3 inches of the floorboards but didn't get into the house. ( Read more... )

wasn't there another flood at your place a couple of years ago? am i getting mixed up?

Some parts of this area flood 2-3 times per year, including the farm where the horses are. So that's not unusual at all, and it's easy to just move the horses for a few days.. but this year we have had two major floods that were several feet higher than normal, and this last one was the first time that the water has ever come even within a quarter mile of my house (it beat the previous record river volume by almost 30%). There was another major flood in 2006, but that didn't affect the town or my place. Not sure if it's global warming or what.

Yes it was nice to sit and have coffee with kitty today in a nice warm dry house thinking of what could have happened.

As I was sitting there, the Red Cross Disaster Relief Team drove up to see if we needed any assistance! Totally surreal.

KITTY IS SAFE! thank god. Poor little monkey, must have been scared! Red cross eh? Shoulda put them to work building x country jumps!! haha
