Yesterday - So I'm off work at 3pm, and approaching the steps to my apt at 3:05 and some rando is bent over Monika's bike (locked to the stairs) fiddling with the lock. I say 'what are you doing?' and he's surprised and you can tell he's panicking. I push 'Is this your bike?' To which he says 'no'. He asks if I'm the owner of the bike and I say '

Now a piece of the key is stuck in the lock and it's just sitting there, awaiting big lock-clipper thingys.
Did you have your bike locked up on campus?

And yeah, my lock got cut the first day I took it on campus. Stupid wire lock! Although really, people who steal bikes professionally (?) can break mostly every kind of lock.
It's a cruel world out there...
