People in the US have heard of magpies, but have no idea what they are about. They sound freaking scary! Did the eyes on the helmet work? The idea that the bird stalks particular people over and over is wild. You better watch out, some magpie has it in for you.
Glad you liked it, I remember when I first went to the UK and told people about magpies, they thought I was joking.
How wonderful google is.
I never got swooped after I had the eyes put on but I suppose the real test would be to go past on my bike where I was yesterday to face the magpies that got me.
The poor postman here get swooped all the time, I loved that the article had a photo of a postman getting swooped. I did also laugh when it said to wear an icecream container over your head. Can you imagine? Funny sight it would be.
I've been telling everyone with ears about your magpie story. It really stuck with me. Very entertaining - sucks that you had to live through an attack to get the story! :) Poor postmen.
It is funny to watch it happen to someone else, but when it is you it is another ball game.
L loves me telling her about the magpies and when we talk she laughs at me as I worry about the magpies.
You cannot go out for a walk or bike ride without worrying about the little buggers. There are signs up in certain areas that say, BEWARE OF SWOOPING MAGPIES.
I am so embarassed to say that I am reading this and laughing so hard that J wants in on the joke. I have tears in my eyes.
Bastards, those magpies! It is sad, but true, I do love a good magpie story! Ah, the little things in life.
Sorry you got swooped again. I want to see the pics of you and the eyes on the helmet. And can you do the 'Elaine-Sinefeld-Dance' while we are on the topic of things P does to make me laugh???
