i think i want an apple powerbook. i like the interface on mac's much much more and they're a LOT more secure when it comes to spyware, viruses, and so forth. i just don't know if i can program on it or not. i also can't justify it unless i do something with my old laptop ( Read more... )

I can't speak for all programs... but i know for sure that you can code C using a mac (GCC). But if for some reason (doubt it) you could not program on a mac, then you can use "Virtual Windows" (Windows Emulator) and then run your programming software on it!

On another note... I would just like to say that it's funny to hear you say that you want a mac, when I've been saying that for ages and everyone laughed at me or questioned why?

And now, that is all I use when I am on campus! And now with mac using intel based dual core processors, you can run mac os x on intel based pc's (or so i've read in forums!)

I'm not sure about interfaces and programming and things of that sort, but I know I definitely want a Mac, too. I used my friend's Mac a couple weeks ago because my computer was in the shop getting another virus cleaned out of it (nothing unusual..). I'm really getting tired of Windows. Macs seem so.. I dunno, clean.

go online. download AVG, anti-virus guard. its free, you can get it at www.download.com. its very good for keeping out viruses.
also, microsoft anti-spyware is very very good.
those can help a lot as far as viruses/spyware go, and they dont' cost anything.
where do you take your computer?
