Kids today...

Does anyone remember when we were little and the playgrounds had rocks at the bottoms of the slides. Also that the playground stuff was either made out of old splintery wood and cold hard steel. Now they have plastic everything and woodchips everywhere. All they need now is a water bottle hanging from a cage and they're a fucking hamster ( Read more... )

People who resurrect cartoons I have fond memories of and create shitty new versions of them should die a painful death.

God... I totally understand every statement in this post, and agree with it all. The new shows, the new "safe" shit for kids, the whole general dumbing-down of *EVERYTHING*... People complain about society getting more and more risque and whatnot, but at the same time, it's getting more and more bland and watered down. How our social situation can go in opposite directions at the same time is, however, beyond my tired-assed logic.

However... If they brought back Peewee's Playhouse, I'm sure that it will be only on HBO, or even better, Cinemax. Now THAT could be interesting lol

I think instead of trying to bring back cartoons, they should just show re-runs.. I would be perfectly happy with that. I think I'm the only person who was not big into carebears. I was more of a Gummy Bear person.

Yes re-runs would be grand. I would also settle for boxsets as well. All my friends loved the Gummy Bears and they disliked the Care Bears. So I was the odd one in the bunch. But I did like that cartoon greatly.

Ha, you hit the nail on the head exactly. It's pretty sad to see what the kids of today have to entertain them. And there's nothing worse than having old, cherished cartoons destroyed by being updated for the next generation. Blah, what an embarrassment.

"Also that the playground stuff was either made out of old splintery wood and cold hard steel." That is such a concise description, I actually envisioned the old play structures while I read that. However, the little playground over by the house that I grew up in had very course, dirty sand to walk in. I remember digging for clay with friends many-a-day. Now it's been replaced with GRASS, of all things. :/

See children are like little hamsters or in your case goats. I wear in 20 years the playgrounds will be like pillowlike structures and they will be made to wear helmets and padding while swinging.

I've had the exact same premonition. It's going to happen. What ever happened to coming home with scrapes and bruises from playing outside? Hah, I sound like an old man.
