Karen has had the epidural. Currently, they are concnerned that the baby is in distress with a lower than average heartrate. Nothing to be concerned about, I'm told; however they have put in an internal monitor and are preparing for a c-section as there may not be enough room to pass through ( Read more... )

Aparently the heartbeat is lower during contractions. The main reason they are looking at a C-section is because they are concerned that the heart rate will decrease while she's pushing. Our mom is the only one who is against the idea of a c-section. I think she's just nervous. Karen is sleeping alot

Petocin... it's a drug they give women to induce labor or speed things up if it's taking too long. Most nurses and women who have had children both with and without the drug say it makes it much more intense and painful. Dreadful stuff, but an often necessary evil.

Tell her that Missy sends her much love and I'd hold her hand through it if I could... despite my current physical state.
