I moved to Austin 5 years ago from NY state, and previously I lived in Ohio. The summers here are long and hot, but after a few years I'm almost used to it (I still grumble a lot). The winters are fun because (1) no snow to shovel, and (2) I like to make fun of the Texans who think that 40 degrees is cold. :-)
Yeah, I like the winters here. Except being from Maine, they seem more like prolonged fall which turns into early spring without a winter inbetween. And with patches of summer interspersed, like when it was in the eighties for New Years. But I think I've decided that I will take six months of winter over seven months of too-hot summer.
