Ok, so does anyone else think it's terrible that one-fifth of Canadians support torture to save lives?
And if that's not bad or shocking enough, it's a whole 36% in the United States.

[This according to a GlobeScan (who?) poll for the BBC, and reported in the National Post (Canadian).]

I don't know, sometimes I wonder why I'm surprised.

Grim. Very grim.
I wonder where they're finding these pro-torture Canadians. I haven't yet met a single Canadian in favor of the war, let alone in favor of torture!

I dunno where they are; it'd be nice to think they're the crazy, undeducated hinterland fringe, but at one-fifth, it's probably not just that.
Admittedly the 1/3+ of the United States is much worse than Canada. It's just that as a Canadian news article, it's slanted to be shocked about the Canadians. I'm not in favor of cushy jails, but torture is going rather too far. Sigh.
