sometimes I get emotional over fonts

Jun 30, 2012 17:01

In the process of transferring a bunch of crap from one HD to another before the former dies (oh, its shrill, frantic beeping; freaked Abby out), kept coming across (old) 85% finished-but-never-posted posts (oh, I used to post so ridiculously much) . Basically abandoned LJ this year (schedule /circumstances /motivation vs inertia), but then I let ( Read more... )

I think twitter has made us lazy with the livejournaling. I keep meaning to post stuff and then never do. Sometimes I miss the hay day of LJ when everyone posted/commented all the time.

I miss the heyday, too! You've posted stuff and K's kept the faith. I used to write so much. but then it is/was a time/access issue. Back when, internet at home? No problem. This past year (past couple, really more like), my 'free' time rarely coincided w/ accessibility. Twitter was great b/c I could basically just message-in-a-bottle it whenever from my little internetless isolation bubble. But now!

Thank goodness for TFT, timely file transfer! The volume of your posts has been missed - those were the glory days of ol' journo weren't they. The spark and wonder before the Russian takeover. On this side of the interwebs, I've seen passage of twitter tumblr and other microblogs, one or two (but not those aforementioned) held some interest and value as possible LJ alts, but one was gobbled up by the great Google machine - rant vs Google withheld at the moment - and the other died by the wayside. So it's been quiet. I've not kept notes but memories instead, and some have been safely kept in the memory palace or dreamtime. But nevermind that: Thank goodness there's a revival of this your journo (:

How can one impersonate a teacher? Is that something like Leo DiCaprio's Frank Abagnale Jr.?

Those cherry toms are quite tasty. Sib brought home some kind of really delicious ones that didn't last five minutes. Slightly refrigerated, they make an excellent snack.

Lukewarm toms? :P

> Twitter's being incredibly easily accessible
I'm all for accessibility, but that shouldn't be the only thing a microblog has going for it. Dreamwidth was the possible savior at one time, but they dropped the ball - right around when all the micros came up, mushrooms after the rain. One might say that the good ol' (and the bad old) days of long form preform journaling are over? Sadface. Sure there's wordpress and having your own journo on your own server - but that's for Serious Bloggers.

You're not doing this for fun, are you?

> my brain opts to repeatedly revisit some made-up building/etc.
Get started on your memory palace. Be able to revisit structures any time you want to. Any dream segment you want to, when you want to. See also the intersect between Inception (you knew that was coming) and the work of Matteo di Ricci (aka Matteo Ricci, SJ)
regarding MPs.

It wasn't what I'd been looking for at the time and I sort of fell into it backwards, and well it was work? It's been mostly all right, it could have been worse, but I'm pretty much done with it. Can't jump ship yet, itbut I'm...whittling oars? Trying to inflate a clandestine dinghy? We'll see.

Not so much that I'm one way or the other on that, just curious about the how/why of my subconscious always churning up detailed and usually fairly memorable floorplans (their aesthetic elegance in review, though, not so much.)

>Inception
Ha, was watching that the other night. Now, I love this movie like pie, for everything including but not limited to having style out the wazoo (was I made to love it? Was it made to love me? Yes), but oh, some of the handwavy mumbo-jumbo explanation lines are hilarious./5amapologies
