Having never seen a Lemony Snicket book in deadtree format in the wild (book shop or DIY library chained to city lamppost, say), a) have you? and b) would LS's work be apt for children?

Yt once made a present of Terabithia the movie for a ten year-old, it worked out well. City of Ember http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0970411/ would not be amiss.

Have you the option of screening Raiders at home, on a mammoth flatscreen with suitable audio? Then you can wow and flutter all you like. All the time.

You know the first thing I did was go and stick another one on before replying, right? Who knew they were this much fun? BECAUSE THEY ARE. :D I have several decades of oblivious indifference to make up for and I may be able to do it in the next month.

Yeah, Kid R was excited about BtT because she loved the movie. Re: LS: I guess? I read the first couple and skimmed the last one at the store, but I just never really got into them. I wouldn't not recommend them, though. Throw it at the wall, see what sticks, right? Re: Ember: I've seen that (it was ok) and have the book somewhere in the MG/YA shelves.

Oh, right, giant tv. Yes, I'm sure my brother has the blu-ray by now (Empire Strikes Back, even the adulterated version, was great on his tv) so, yes. But, you really just can't beat an optimal cinematic experience in total (i.e. the One True Way).
