Do you believe in love at first sight?

The romantic part of me, the part that sings those songs day in day out and believes them would definitely say yes.

But the part of me who has experienced heartbreak and longing would say regardless at first sight or twenty, love is a nuisance.

Everyday I walk past this cafe, outside my apartment. Sometimes I stop for some croissants. Nearby there is this teaching academy, and around noon, a whole troop of future teachers would spill into the streets and the eateries.

Every so often my eye is caught by a pretty face. It was attraction at first sight, but were they ever love?

I met my girlfriend during one of those variety shows. In the crowd that her all-girl band, she stood out in my mind. But beyond the polite greeting, it was nothing more.

But we live the same lives and our paths cross again and again. And from coffee by the stage to lunch to dinner, somehow I found myself in a relationship.

I suppose what I am saying is this: Love requires more than the initial attraction. Like anything else, it requires effort.
