Drama, I Say Thee NAY!

So my roommate has this very stupid friend. I say she's very stupid because she's desperately in love with her roommate, who she's known from Day One to be gay. So every time he talks adoringly about some guy or dares to do some boy-flirting in front of her, she gets moody ( Read more... )

That's easy. You can't give away Kevin's space because circumstances could once again change and he would be able to attend the wedding. You can't very well uninvite Kevin just so the stupid Drama Queen can attend. You did say Kevin was only "unsure." He didn't decline the invite and he has a positive RSVP. That slot is taken.

Sure, but with Z being his wife, she's just going to call my roommate or Drama Queen as soon as he decides he's not going.

If they tell DQ she can come, and then Kevin decides he can make it, she obviously wouldn't be allowed to.

At this point, it's tempting to take the drama and rescind my roommate's invite. He's been a pain about it all. When Z and Kevin got the invitation, they pointed out the line that says "The reception will be Black Tie."

To which my roommate said, "I'm sure it's not Black Tie."

Do...do words not mean anything anymore?

What a dumbass.

It's your wedding though and you should be allowed to set the parameters.

Bite the bullet and tell the guy she ain't comin'. Hard feelings? Drama scene? So what, you'll be married and will be too busy to even talk to this guy much then.

DO AS I SAY

Wow...I didn't even know you were on here, Spiff. Then I just saw you on Bonz's LJ.

Go figure.

Anyway, long story short, it's your wedding, and you should be able to have or not have anyone you choose.

I would just say something like "If I allow your friend to come, then I'd have to allow Joe Blow's friend to come, and Jane Doe's friend to come in order to be fair to them. And we really aren't interested in/can't afford that sort of situation. We tried to keep it fairly small - for close family and friends only. I hope you understand."

Fairly diplomatic, yes?

Anyway, good luck. :)

Thanks. :) It actually turned out okay. Today I was informed that Kevin's going to make it after all, and as the roommate and I discussed recent developments, I mentioned the "no substitutions" rule.

Now I sound like a Chinese restaurant....
