If they tell DQ she can come, and then Kevin decides he can make it, she obviously wouldn't be allowed to.
At this point, it's tempting to take the drama and rescind my roommate's invite. He's been a pain about it all. When Z and Kevin got the invitation, they pointed out the line that says "The reception will be Black Tie."
To which my roommate said, "I'm sure it's not Black Tie."
Do...do words not mean anything anymore?

Anyway, long story short, it's your wedding, and you should be able to have or not have anyone you choose.
I would just say something like "If I allow your friend to come, then I'd have to allow Joe Blow's friend to come, and Jane Doe's friend to come in order to be fair to them. And we really aren't interested in/can't afford that sort of situation. We tried to keep it fairly small - for close family and friends only. I hope you understand."
Fairly diplomatic, yes?
