Am I going crazy?

An 8 dollar paycut ... for experience working with animals, a 10 minute commute and no tolls.

The logical part of my brain is screaming at me for even considering it.

The part of me that wants to be a vet and wants to actually do something with my life is yelling You Go, Girl!Funny how sometimes you have to walk backwards to feel like you're ( Read more... )

1: Can you survive financially on an 8-dollar pay cut?
2: Will this job be more or less stressful then your current one?
3: Is either job more "secure" then the other, in light of today's economy?
4: Which job would be more personally fulfilling to you?

I presume you've already thought about these questions, but sometimes it helps to have someone else approach it. (I hope...) ;)

I'll be in Cambridge for Arisia next weekend, are you going? If not, I definitely want to squeeze in some time to see you and the bandit.

You spend such a large chunk of your life at work - if it doesn't make you happy, that carries costs of its own ( ... )

Dr. Jaffe, Vet of Awesome.

It certainly has a ring to it. And if you can take the fiscal hit, and still stay afloat, I say do it...Nothing lost is, afterall, nothing gained.

Assuming you can pay all your bills (even if that means re-designing your life to do so), and you think you'll be happier, go for it.

A couple times in my life, I've made similar decisions. I've quit my job because I hated it. I turned down a giant pay jump because there was no way in hell I'd ever work with a certain person again. I made a difficult life choice that sometimes still hurts on some levels, and makes me extremely happy on others.

Good things always require difficult decisions. Yes, it's a risk, but those risks are often worth it. If you will be happier doing something more fulfilling...do it.
