[Sarah Jane has set herself up a nice little space in Fallingwater, even if it is short on the resources she's used to having at home. Her PCD is propped up, so she can be seen from the chest up, a bit of a thoughtful expression on her face.]I'm glad the Animus passed me by on this last 'event'. The idea of forgetting, even for a week, everything ( Read more... )

[Raphael said something like that, too; that everyone could see more clearly and without bias. It makes her pay attention, to have heard it twice.

For Usagi, of course, the shock of having forgotten her friends was... an unwelcome one. It isn't the first time - not even back home. And she understands, now, why she felt so hampered last week, without those memories and those bonds to hold her up.]

I think our loved ones back home are even more important than we realize sometimes.

[Raphael's post was exactly what she'd been referring to. She'd thought about replying to the woman herself, but didn't want to start a confrontation with someone affected.

This girl, though...looked about the age of Luke and his friends. Their friends. Their family.]

I will agree with you on that. It's why I'm glad I didn't forget them this last week. I don't think I could bear the idea of forgetting my son.

[It would be too much like the Trickster and his meddling.]

Mm... [Except she did forget. Even if, as she often says, a small part of her still knew she wanted to be close to Hino Rei and Kaioh Michiru, she'd forgotten everything they went through together again. It's hard.]

But it's alright now. We know each other now.

Thank goodness the memory loss was only temporary.

I'm glad I remembered who I was for this, whatever it was. I might've actually snogged my cousin. Imagine my horror after, imagine my husbands...

That's exactly what I mean - with no context, you might do something you'd otherwise never do, and would regret. How can that be some sort of truth or help you in any way?

How have you been, Tonks? Everything all right besides this?

I dunno. I'm just glad that I remembered. I think I would've had to turn my own wand on myself, maybe see if a body can self Obliviate.

I'm fine. What about you? Is everything alright? Oh. Did you move into that waterfall place yet?

[She keeps mum on that. It's possible, but whether or not you have to have a broken wand in hand to do it, as in the books....]

I'm glad it didn't come to that. If it went wrong, who knows what would happen.

I'm well, thank you. Yes, I did, along with some acquaintances from home. We're working on fixing it up a bit. Just the right size for everyone; no one feels too crowded.

Insights, yes. But worthless.

I tend not to discard insights as worthless - dismiss something too easily and it could come back to haunt you later.

[Not speaking from personal experience, no, not at all.]

If something happens that makes you take a step back and evaluate, no matter how trivial it may seem, it's worth something. Even if it's just solidifying the belief you already had.

And if it just makes you want to forget?

As I said, something forgotten might come back later and cause trouble. Memory is how we learn, after all.

I am afraid I was left with more questions than answers.

What sorts of questions, if I might, Unohana-san?

Well, I was rather alarmed that some of us were sproting the same coats with different numbers.

Not much to gain when you've been stripped of all memories, is there?

But if we're reflecting... perhaps we should learn that all memories are important, not just the good ones.

That's what I would think, too, but you never know. Then again, people with amnesia go on to live productive lives all the time.

[She smiles, lips pressed tightly together, at that.]

Sometimes it's the not-so-good ones that are the most important.

Not always. [Quiet but firm. Because her brother's amnesia does nothing for him.]

...mm. Unfortunately.

No, not always.

[Something in the girl's voice tells her it's best to leave that alone, for now.]

Those tend to be the ones we learn the most from, if nothing else. The ones that make us reflect on the choices we've made, and want to improve ourselves.
