This past weekend I went to the local Holiday Market/Crafter's Fair and realized why I pretty much avoid gatherings, people, etc here in town. (heck, I go and pick up mail at 5 in the morning just to avoid people

{{{Beloved Brother}}} I hear what you're saying, I truly do.
but....She's so much more calm, together and patient than I've ever ever been. I can't take any credit for that. She just *is* and I feel blessed that she's in my life. I look at her and the young woman she is and just marvel.
It's sappy as hell to say, but she is one of my dearest friends. What we've been through together transcends mother/daughter.

Well, whether you want to believe that you had a part of how wonderful she is, you might as well face it...there is so much of you in her.
I'm so glad that you and her get to share the joy of being close friends as well as mother/daughter.
It is truly a miracle that she is where she's at today. For those people that have implied that she should be doing 'whatever meets their standards' they can mind their own business. There is hope that there will be more remarkable improvement and that someday soon they will find a cure. I know that the reality is that every day is essentially a fight for her and I'm constantly thinking of her (along with you and the little one).
She's 19 and has faced more than anyone should ever have to endure...and faced it with more grace, courage and strength than anyone I've ever known.
How true! She has taught me a few things about life.
I know at some point someone posted a site for the disease (or with general information) and my mind's fuzzy and I can't find it in my bookmarks. Could you please post the site for this again?
Of course, this was just the disease. She also dealt with a VRE (strep resistant to all antibiotics), infection of the pericardium along w/ an incredibly rare microbe infection.

You do realize that this speaks volumes about the way she was raised, don't you?
