So I've realized that I haven't posted in I don't even know how long. I sort of lost interest in most of these internet type places. I pretty much check my emails and facebook and that's about it ( Read more... )

Journalism, like many creative majors, is always difficult to pursue. I often want to write, but talk about a profession where writer's block can do you in. Then again, art is just the same.

Both are based off of working a great deal to find freelance work, steady jobs don't happen often, and not having much money is just part of it at times. Then again, maybe you're thinking about it all in the wrong light?

For a long time, I thought going to college was about finding the right education for the right career. It just really doesn't work that way.

The career as our parents knew it is dead. There's no pension, no benefits, and no need for loyalty from the worker when they can be easily laid off. There's a lot more lateral movement in the work force with our generation, because we've been taught we get what we want. People work one place for two-three years, go back to school maybe, work somewhere else for four-five years.

Maybe then it's for the wrong reasons? College majors don't have to be your career. Sure, you won't get a job ( ... )

Yeah, I'm aware that going to college and getting a degree doesn't mean steady career. I've heard a lot about this lately. It's not uncommon for people to work in 3 or 4 different fields once they graduate ( ... )
