I'm sorry I had to stop reading. I could've close the tab and never look back on this story ever again but I have a question and I can't answer it. How wasn't it stealing ? How was that an accident ? Why Jaebum acts so illogically at Jinyoung's answer when it was indeed stealing ? Did I miss something ? Jinyoung did take the watch without asking nor manifesting any thoughts about returning it. What right does Jinyoung have to be pissed when he took it without asking ? I get it that you want to play on Jaebum's inconsistence but it really rubs me the wrong way how you trivialized stealing. I'm not materialistic and no matter how I love a person I can't stand people touching my stuff without asking, so maybe I'm biased but I really don't get it, to the point it spoiled the whole fic for me. Anyway, I enjoyed reading it until this point.
hi, this is gotchick :) sorry im replying you on anon, and a few days late. i hope i didn't cause you to check back fruitlessly too many times! i usually try to reply anon comments immediately when i receive them but i've been busy this week and didn't see this comment until a few days after it was posted. im not logged in now bc im on my phone but i didn't want to make you wait any longer for a reply. i also didn't want to make you worry that i might be offended by your comment because im not at all! :) in fact, it made me really happy to receive it and im very grateful to you for going out of your way to drop me such a thoughtful and honest comment even though you don't have an lj. i love receiving concrit because it helps me improve but i don't receive it often enough, my frequent readers would know that i even ask for it on some fics! so hearing your thoughts on this fic was really helpful and thought-provoking for me

im not sure if you finished reading this chapter but i mentioned towards the end about the "mistrust sown by the watch issue" which was supposed to hint to the reader that jaebum hadn't forgotten it, even though he had chosen to overlook it at the beginning of their relationship. which brings me to /why/ he had decided to overlook it on that first night, even though he wasn't 100% sure that jinyoung was telling the truth (and jinyoung only gradually earned his trust with time as he proved to jaebum that he wasn't with him because of money). as you said, it WAS stealing and jaebum was right to call him out (i have to thank your comment for helping me realize that jaebum was right to use such a harsh word) but i think what was more important to the characters at that time was their intentions. when jinyoung took the watch, i made clear that he did not have the intention to steal (as in sell or pawn or exchange it for money). he was in a vulnerable, fragile and emotional mood after their first night together, and feeling insecure about

which brings me to the point about how some time later jaebum called him out and jinyoung asked in no uncertain terms about why he did so if he still felt jinyoung was a thief and jaebum replied "any way i can have you, on any terms, i'll take them" which i intended to mean as him saying that even if jinyoung /was/ approaching him for his money, he didn't mind. the point i wanted to make is how desperately jaebum had fallen for jinyoung to the point of wanting to possess his body even if he didn't have his heart (which i would revisit later in part 3 when he offers jinyoung money and material possessions to stay with him). it turns into an insecurity that always haunts jaebum because jinyoung never clears the misunderstanding but maybe i didn't handle it well, writing it in a way that was off-putting or unacceptable to readers. you're right that jinyoung didn't have the right to be pissed but i think he was just taking the defensive instinctively, at being called such a negative word by the person he just had a one night stand with
