I haven't seen any lightning, but even if I do, it will not keep me away from the next-to-last session of Urban Farm. (Yay Urban Farm! Best class ever! srsly: I dunno what's so fucking hard about "s/he" and "they." It's not clunky, and it's the best there is without resorting to crap that implies I feel like a victim of the English language, which I don't.

I've become a fan of phrasing everything with first and second person pronouns to avoid the he/she issue entirely. Second Nature was SO FRUSTRATING because it was full of all these really good ideas phrased in such a way that I had to keep stopping to growl at the language use. At one point in my book review I actually wrote something like "if you think you're sick of hearing me complain about this, imagine how sick I am of reading a really good idea and thinking, 'awesome! except for the pronouns, of course.' " Gah.

I don't think I've had to deal with that particular flavor of annoyance in a while, luckily. Or else I've blocked it out to avoid going mad with rage.
