Here we go for the post-exchange comment fic meme. (Posted on the mod account as usual because I don't want to enable anonymous comments on the exchange comm.)

A couple of rules:

- please include the pairing/character (and maybe a short prompt/kink) in the comment title - both for prompts and for fills.
- there are both show and book fans in this ( Read more... )

A/N: I hope that you don’t mind that Walda’s little sister Marissa came along for the ride even if she wasn’t in the prompt. It’s my headcanon that Mariya and Ami don’t make it through the war so Walda basically adopts her little sister ( ... )

“You are my guest, Lord Rickon,” Walda says then, giggling at the sight despite herself, “and you must do as you like while you are here.” She checks herself, remembering the weapon in her pocket. “Unless, of course, you should come to harm. We would not want that to come to pass ( ... )

To our mod:
I can't edit the subject line because of replying to the initial post it but the title is The fruits of victory.

Flay typos and all that.

omg, this is extremely adorable and well written (coming from you it's not even a surprise tbh) and yet there's a darker undertone to everything that doesn't leave you when you read it. I just... I don't even know how you did that :o. But it's perfect, it's really really really perfect XD.

Marissa playing with Rickon: Approved!

Thank you! I was nervous about writing kids because aside from Domeric I really haven't done so in a long time. Glad that you liked it. It was a great prompt.

Ahhhh!! This is adorable! SO many wonderful little details- of COURSE Sansa gets on Rickon's case about his manners, and of COURSE there are random terrifying flaying knives lying around the Dreadfort, and of COURSE Walda has at least three different jam varieties just lying around at any given time. You've captured Rickon perfectly; this is just how I imagine he'll be when/if he returns to Winterfell. And obviously you're just a master of writing Walda. The ending with Marissa was very sweet and a really great touch. Beautiful work!

Thank you! I imagine that post-war in the north, the Dreadfort is basically left a mess since the Boltons will likely die/be defeated at Winterfell by Stannis' forces.

Walda's just keeping busy. :) She loves that stuff as much as Rickon, but she is much neater about it.

I'm glad that Rickon and Marissa worked in the story. I'm always nervous when I write children and I think that Walda, aside from Roose, is probably my favorite character to write.

Oh wow I really loved this so much. It was incredibly sweet and so touching too. I have to say I do love how Walda for all her humility really does have a power of another sort. I thought the rusted flaying knife was so symbollic of it too. How the world is harsh and cruel but it is people like her who give it hope, who can see beyond the ugly to the innocence and goodness that lies beneath. Be it through Rickon's wild nature or Roose's cold detached one. She always seems to know how to find the human behind the 'beast'.

Thank you & thank you for reading! :)

We don't get much in canon about Walda but I presume that if she can find something in Roose to like, she must be a special person, or at least a very kind one.
