Harvey looked down at the slight blond woman who was curled up beside him in bed. He'd been silent since they finished, unable to think of the right words. Nadine opened her mouth to say something but changed her mind. She wouldn't raise her voice, wouldn't even point out how badly timed his generosity was. However, she did sigh.

"Where did you--" She began as she took one of the stacks. Crisp, clean bills, still with the bank's binding. It didn't take long to put the pieces together. "No. I don't want to know." She didn't say anything again, just ran her thumb over the stack's edge. She kept waiting to wake up. This couldn't be real. This was almost too much to try and process. "Harvey-- I-- Shit."

"I collected on a debt," Harvey said by way of explanation. "It's a monthly thing--they owe me quite a lot. My life, actually."
