Nadine answered her phone without checking the display.

"Nadine," she said into it. Then, not into the phone but still easily picked up by it, she snapped, "If that file -- if any file -- goes missing, I will tear apart your office to find it!" Her attention returned to the call she'd received, and she gave another greeting, without even thinking, "Hello?"

"Nadine," Harvey practically barked. "It's Harvey. I need you to do me a favor."

He offered no preamble or explanation and assumed she'd already seen the news.

"H--" she stopped herself. In an entirely professional tone, she replied, "Hold on a moment, please."

She let herself into Harvey's office and closed the door. She didn't want to take this call, whatever it might lead to, where others could overhear. "Okay," she said after a few moments, her tone casual but eager, on edge. "What can I do?"

"I need to know where Crane is," Harvey said. "Now."

However, she did open her phone again a moment later and dialed the phone number of Jonathan Crane.

[arkhams_dr]

He looked down at the phone display, then picked it up. "Hello, Nadine."

What was Harvey up to? Wanting to question Jonathan with everything going on? Her loyalties were battling once again.

"Jonathan," she said quietly. Best not to jump to business right away. "How are you?"

[arkhams_dr]

"I'm well...just wrapping some thing up for the night. How're you?"

[knowthenbreak]

It was not long before Harvey's cellphone rang again, displaying Nadine's number to identify who was trying to get in touch with him.

[gothams_dent]

"Well?"

It was both a greeting and a demand.

[knowthenbreak]

"Do you plan to hurt him, Harvey?" she asked, quietly. She had no right to protect Jonathan from arrest. There was a warrant for that, but she wasn't going to let him get hurt.

[gothams_dent]

"No," Harvey said firmly. "There aren't going to be any cops lurking in the shadows or anything like that. I just--I just need to ask him some questions."
