Sitting on a ledge in the pouring rain watching Harry go to MJ's and everything that happened there had not been the right thing to help out Bruce's mood ( Read more... )

Harry woke up in his boxers and found his clothes folded on the edge of the couch. He vaguely remembered Mary Jane waking him up so she could dry his clothes. Of course with the rain outside he wondered if it was worth the trouble. She was in the shower so he decided to take a card out of Faith's book and get out of sight before he had to face her.

His now dry clothes on, hair a mess, and looking like he had barely slept, he looked the picture of a guilty boy leaving his ex-girlfriend's apartment after a 'one more time for old time's sake' liason. Which is why he was caught off guard by Bruce waiting outside holding coffee and a bag of pastries.

"She's upstairs," he said, and moved to walk past Bruce, but wasn't fast enough. Bruce stood his ground and was shooting daggers at Harry.

"Is there a problem? If so share the fucking umbrella it's cold."

"Take the umbrella." It's not like he could say 'hi I was watching you kiss the girl last night' there was no way he could explain it. But sitting on that ledge for hours had managed to work him into cold anger he couldn't let go.

"I thought me staying away from MJ had to do with you and me and not you and her Harry."

Harry blinked a couple of times as he tried to process what Bruce was saying. Was he jealous? Well, it sure looked like he was.

"Bruce, who actually are you jealous of here? Me being with Mary Jane or Mary Jane being with me? I'd just like a little clarification of the situation before I proceed with the conversation."

He was being obnoxious. Of course he was being obnoxious because that was always his reaction to Bruce being cold. He took the umbrella and tossed it on the steps of MJ's apartment building, and folded his arms across his chest. If they were going to fight it out in the rain, so be it.

He shouldn't be doing this, he had no business standing here in the rain and picking a fight with Harry over this. It's not like he had any sort of official relationship with either of them and he was out of line.

But part of him just didn't care.

"Does it matter which one? I just remember getting thrown to the floor and being told to stay away from her. And now here you are." Of course he was here too but damnit logic wasn't welcome in this conversation. Bruce could hear Ra's al Ghul telling him he never learned to mind his surroundings in the back of his head and he told him to shut the fuck up.

"Yeah, sure. I hope you have your car near by because I didn't bother to call for mine. I was going to walk."

He waved at the reporters before allowing Bruce to escort him a few blocks away to where the limo was waiting. Climbing inside, he waited for Bruce to instruct the driver where to take them. He was surprised it was to the penthouse.

"So, you want to tell me now or wait until we get back to my place?"

He rubbed his jaw and said, "I can't believe you actually hit me. Took you long enough."

Bruce turned off his phone...he didn't need to hear it right now from his publicist, or Alfred...or Lex. Then he put up the privacy window so the driver couldn't hear them.

"I don't know...Alexander deserves to hear this too but I don't think I can handle that much right now." He shook out his hand, the knuckles stung from the hit.

"I can't believe I hit you either...felt kind of good though." He couldn't help but laugh at that admission to Harry. He probably should have just gone ahead and hit him somewhere when they were younger.

"Do you remember the terrorists in Gotham?" Sort of off topic but getting to where he wanted to talk about.

Harry frowned as he listened to the terrorist question. For a split second he wondered if this was going to be a confession that Bruce was a terrorist. Of course that was insane because Bruce was Mr. law abiding citizen.

"Yeah. What about them?" He asked, leaning forward to grab a bottle of water from the small fridge inside of the limo.

"I met them when I was travelling. One of them broke me out of a jail in China and trained me." Yeah serious short version of the story there, but he could fill in details later.

"I stopped them." And he was wondering if that was enough information for Harry to put together what he was and what he'd done. Somehow saying it outloud just didn't seem to work.
