Jul 27, 2005 08:47

Well, the first of my plays is now cast and I am looking for two guys for the second half of the show - Zoo Story by Edward Albee. So if you know any male actors who want to do a not for profit production in London, please let them/me know.

Thanks!

Update: Tee hee. I am starting to get so many applications from real actors after putting up the ( Read more... )

Well, there's always mr_flay. He claims he can act and I very much doubt he would charge for it.

Are you doing an English adaptation or expecting people to put on yank accents?

yes. he could be good but he's away for burning man in august and he hasn't mentioned wanting to act anymore. but thanks for the suggestion. i expect you to be there on opening night!

If I could act, I would, but unfortunately the last thing I 'acted' in, apart from devoting life to being 'madderz' of course, was a school play where I played a fog horn. Yes that's right, I had to stand on stage and make the sound of a fog horn. This while the 'popular' kids got to do things like say stuff, or play the Bass Recorder.

Not that I'm bitter.

:P

well, I must say you have the look I want for the play and are the right age. TBH, I like actors who are green more than trained ones as they tend to be more natural. If you want an audition let me know although it would mean a commitment about twice a week and memorizing lines for a 40-minute play and then the commitment when we put it on. either a week or two's worth of performances.

Right, well in this situation I think I'm a green they haven't invented yet, I'm that green, but if you think I'd fit I should at least give it some consideration, but I am sure there will be far more appropriate people, for one I've never aspired to act and the memorising lines is a concern, but then given that I don't know the play, or part who can say.

Tell me a bit about the play (had a quick mooch about the net so know the format), possible role and timeline for all this happening and I'll have a think.

Well, the play is about 40 mins long and there are two men. One of the men doesn't have as many lines as the other. It's very emotionally intense, a bit theatre of the absurd and one of the guys gets stabbed in the end. This is a similarity with mine and also that it takes place on a park bench!

Time line is put it on in October. Probably about 2 rehearsals per week except for right before the shows which means more rehearsals.

What's the timescale on this? As in, when are you looking to put it on?

I am looking to put it on in October or if casting takes longer then November. The piece is one act, about 30-40 minutes long at most. I see there being about 2 rehearsals a week.

Hey, fair enough on that, if you don't think you are an actor then you're not an actor and it's not worth putting effort into something that you're not passionate about...

But, about the following statement:

If there is any way I can be of help let me know, I just couldn't give all the commitment it would need at the time.

Do you know anything about lighting a theatre? um, I will need a lighting and sound technician and it would be nice if I didn't have to pay one £240 per week! Ara is in the production so I don't feel so embarrassed asking about this as she is a friend of yours and well, we get along well online, but haven't met yet! If, of course, she wasn't, I would feel it too brash to ask!

As for the moo----vie.... um what are your plans like tomorrow eve or Saturday eve... um... man, this play is sapping a lot of time and energy at the moment... I have rehearsal with Ara and Eleanor on Monday, then auditions on Thursday and Friday for the second piece and a play in Regent's Park on Wednesday. Meep.

Damn, I did indeed miss a memo. Bugger, I would have been up for filmage too.

Ok, well as for Stage Lighting or Sound technician - Unfortunately I know nothing about stage lighting what so ever, well apart from basic basics. As for sound, it's not something I've done before, but I could certainly find out what needs to be done and then let you know if I can do it as I can normally pick stuff up pretty quickly, particularly when it comes to sound.

Back on to the subject of filmage, looks like your window has closed up again, however, if you are likely to have any energy left next weekend I could do Saturday or Sunday.
