One thing I've heard discussed, this year and last, is that now that we're moving away from the Big Al's Gothic Festival model, toward the Net.Goth Family Reunion, our numbers are waning ( Read more... )

YAAAAY!

Your sister was really sweet. I hope she comes next year, because I'll actually have time to sit and visit!

Nice that I wasn't the only one present with a tan, too. ;)

Hon, thank you SO much for the drinks on Friday night. I swear you kept me going with those. *hugs*

I found her earlier the day of the beach party and told her about our group photo and asked her to join in!

This is a good attitude to have. :) I hope we get some more new people next year, it's always nice to see new blood and actually meet people that do the "Oh yeah I've known of you for about 8 years but never talked to you" thing with. I love that about this group.

I'm thinking of ways to encourage this kind of thing. Not sure of anything yet, but ideas are bubbling. Most will probably pop, but maybe some will srick.

Well, I know that Whitby, and I believe Convergence used to, have a welcome for new attendees who maybe don't know of anyone else who is going, and just want to know what to expect and feel welcomed. And tell them there will be punch and pie. They will come if there is punch and pie.....
And communication, communication, communication....I would have gone to the champagne brunch on Sun if I had known---was it only for a select few? We need to know there is a central info spot for updates, questions, ways to connect with people; I've brought it up before, sometimes its there, more often not. I guess because this a "smaller" convergence, it was felt to be less necessary. But still. C15 was a great experience, not to be missed. But I sure am looking forward to less heat at C16.

The Sunday Champagne brunch is something that the hotel is known for. Many people just went randomly on their own, and lil_m_moses posted in her personal journal about getting a group together to go. We had 7 of us at our table and we had made reservations in advance.

I hope to go every year, but the expense (international airfares) and the time of year (between May 1st and September 1st it's more expensive to travel to the US) prevents me from going.

It's a shame, but unless I win the lottery or have a fairy gothmother, I don't see me going anytime soon. :(

(I have attended 2 Convergences, so I know how fun they are)

Yes, I know what you mean. :( And ours will be in that expensive time, too. We have so many teachergoths, it's hard to plan during the offseason.

You're with us in spirit. *hugs*

As a spinner of the "not gothic music", I want to state that Convergence is one of the best parties you will go to. It's a room full of friends that you just haven't met yet.

Yep, that was me. I also played the Britany Spears/Manson mashup and "I'm on a Boat"
