i know i've ranted on the topic of work here before, but this time it's different, as it's not so much about work, but something i found out at work, and something not discussed here before. sex.

i can't recall exactly how it was brought up, but a couple of us were discussing the topic of sex when i found out the differences of the sexual lexicon. i had brought up the movie half-baked, when dave said that they shouldn't be spending the money they were making, to which his friends replied, "you gave mary jane a pearl necklace, that must have cost a lot." and dave replies, "you obviously missed the point of that story."

i thought it was funny, but those i was telling it to were looking at me, still waiting for the punchline. "you know, a pearl necklace."

"i don't get it."

what? are you kidding me? was i the only one who knew what a pearl necklace was? how could that be?i thought everyone knew what a pearl necklace was. guess venecular changes with the times.

which brings us to the second part, sex changes in general as time and technology advances. (no, not those kind of changes.)

in the beginning, sex had but one purpose: procreation. course, it wasn't called that. no, back then, people begot, today we fuck.

somewhere along the line, it was discovered that sex was fun, and thus came about recreational sex, and those that lived, thus creating the oldest profession.

and then with morality came the idea that paying for sex was wrong. and some were just unable to accept that the only sex they could get was paid for.

thus, phone sex was invented. it wasn't as if you were really having sex with someone, and thus, acceptable. (though at $2.99/min, billed to any major credit card, might be better off paying $10 for a bj in the back alley.)

technology improved greatly, and so did sex. reintroduced as 'cyber,' it was cheap, guilt-free, annonymous sex readily available at any chatroom or im program. and it technically wasn't sex, either. there was, however, one drawback. that hot, 20 something redhead might actually be a balding 40ish man with a beer gut.

and now, once again, we might be on the verge of another change. web enabled cellular phones and text messaging combine everything. perhaps people have discovered this new 'sext messaging,' perhaps not.

but it raises the question, 'what's next?' we've already seen in demolition man a future where sex isn't sex, it's brain waves sent from one helmet to another. are we really that not that far away from someting similar? next thing you know, we'll all have chips implanted in our heads that interpret brain signals and send them to the recieving partner. the chips will interpret the incoming signals, triggering the body's responces, thus, sex without physical contact. (yeah, leave out the obvious 'mind-fuck' joke here)

and where will it go from there? interactive porn that reacts to each individual? progresses as the thoughts are thought? always wanted to give kobi tai (not sure of the spelling on that.) a pearl necklace? no prob, here's your vid. in the kiester? hey, just think it, we'll show it.

and then there's the legal aspects. what happens if you accedently happen to telepathically have sex with the wrong person? would that be considered rape? (and you just thought it was hard to look at a girl now without getting hit with a sexual harassment charge. wait till you think it.)
