King Richard's

First things first - it's almost frigging Halloween!! We're having a party at my house this Saturday evening as an excuse to dress up and eat candy. Costumes are required. If anyone shows up not wearing a costume, they will find themselves forced to wear the giant smelly dragon mask as one. Consider this fair warning ( Read more... )

Ahhhhhh, you guys are so awesome-sauce, and you look so great!
We went the MD Renn Faire, but there was no fun corset and gown allowed for me... *sad*

Aaawwww! You guys have fun? ^^ I seem to remember a nifty beige-y tan dress that you sewed a long time ago, but that may have been for a Brown play now that I think about it.

We did have fun! Tiny group, and it was muddy, and we were only there for a few hours, and had to leave (just before the rain started, which was convenient!) pretty early, but I'm glad that I got to go at least once!

There was the gold brocade and ivory velvet gown... and I made another in greens and golds for the MD Renn Faire a few years ago.

Oh man, it's over already? I've got to pay closer attention to this stuff, I totally meant to make it out there this year.

You know, I was really surprised with how short the faire runs for actually... just Sept through Oct. Admittedly that's the best weather imo, but I'm sure people would still show up if they extended back through August.

omgah, those dresses are so smexy! Awesome jobs, ladies. Regan though, you need to work on a new sexy!face, or your new name is Paris.

Also HalfDan needs either a haircut or a ponytail. Does Dan really want to become a ponytail dude? Terrifying.

Anyway I am super jealous of your fabulous fall faire adventures and your fancy outfits and your sewing skills. Did people come up and admire you?? Cuz they should've.

Hahaaa yeaaah I hate making serious cosplay faces; they always look SO DUMB!! I guess it's kinda "oh I'm a staunch Elizabethan lady ho ho ho"ish?

I'm fine with HalfDan's hair... it was THE BEARD that was awful!!! It was long enough for him to put in a rubber band for a while. Did I tell you how he got asked about 4 times at Dragoncon while wearing his copshades, metal/rock jacket and studded bracelets who he was supposed to be?

We had someone take our picture actually, which I totes did not expect?

Your costumes look amazing! Not like they were speed sewn at all. I must admit I'm very curious about where you got your dress fabrics they look very expensive and excellent. Also how is it that Dan got to carry around an axe?

There's this super nifty discount fabric store near me called Sewfisticated... they're not increasingly large, but they carry a bunch of designer-type fabric as well as upholstery stuff at really cheep prices (I don't think there's a thing in the store that's more than $10 a yard, including the shot silk and suede) Scone's dress is upholstery, and we aren't 100% sure what the heck I got to be honest. I think it's some sort of synthetic polyester but with some extra embroidery finish for the gold.

Hahaha apparently Renfaires are SUPER LAX about dangerous weaponry? He bought the thing while there, and while it's very blunt apparently nobody cares!!
