Dragoncon rooming for the population at large has apparently gone from pretty bad to complete and total clusterfuck. The "I need a room; everything has been sold out months earlier than it normally does" list on dragonconrooms has been unusually long, but now the Baymont and Wyndham have decided to cancel all confirmed bookings as of August 15th ( Read more... )

T-kun and I are confirmed for D*Con, but we have no room yet :/ If we can still get it, we're looking at a room in the W hotel, so if people we know may be able to share with us. It's not in the host hotel complex, but it seems closer than some of the other overflow options.

Oh, and when are you guys going? Is there a ton of stuff to do Friday/Monday, or could we fly in Fri morning/afternoon and out Monday night?

Oh yeah that's definitely a lot closer... actually about as far away as the Baymont was!

We're actually going Friday morning, getting in at 10 AM, then going home at quarter till 6. Sat and Sun are the biggest days but Friday actually had a good chunk of stuff to do last year; Monday was really the wind-down day so I think you'd be fine leaving even earlier than that. ^^

Btw if you guys do end up getting a room at the W and want 2 or so more people, we'll definitely go in on it with you! I think there's still doubles left but I suspect they're probably going soon, so just let me know. :) Like I said, we've got one at the Hilton, so I think it'd be nice for everyone to use that as close-by "rest" space during the con so we don't get so tired.

MAN! I've been reading about the shit-storm rooming issue on the DC Comm LJ. I'm so sorry you got caught in it, but I'm glad you've still got one room. Tons of con -goers are totally SOL :(

University overflow hosueing? that's the first i've heard of that? WOW fuck those guys I had thought that the hotels were closing. Not just being dicks!

You're probably fine I think... Baymont and Wyndam are owned by the same company, so it's not coincidence that they both dropped this ball at the same time. Always good to double check though!
