Hmm, that is true, I think the chair might get destroyed. It's pretty hefty plastic I think, but maybe also a little big for her to play with? Argh, I'm not good at baby stuff
I think it's really cute and I would have been totally happy for J to have received/receive (she's 7 now) a doll like that. I think, as you say, it's a good way for them to start learning about differences and stuff. I think part of the problem with Wheelchair Barbie was that it seemed tokenistic. And lol at the pregnant doll causing ruckus! The back of the box has blurb about her husband (who you can buy separately) and older son! Silly people.
also, I'm sorry I haven't replied to your email yet, I am rubbish!!
hahaha pregnant barbie! It would be good for a kid whose mother was going to have a baby, I know some of my friends at school were 'prepared' for the big event by being given their own doll and crib etc at teh same time, so they didn't feel left out.
At what age do small people stop liking dolls like the above?
these are the goodly people who make them - the hearing aid is only a couple of dollars actually. The wheelchair is a bit expensive, but I imagine they aren't able to mass-produce, and it's really hard to find disabled dolls. The Guide dog one is soooo cute! I want one of those just for me!
And yes, perhaps 2 is too early for the toy. I just worry that if you're going to indoctrinate a child, you've got to get 'em while they're young and malleable! Though maybe I should get it and give it to her when she's 3-4 or something. The website doesn't give any age guidance.
ooh, hang on, I've found her and her chair on another website, and they say she's meant for toddler to age 6. Hmm... Still, she looks a bit more advanced than that, doesn't she?
