A tsunami may be "only" between 30 and 60 feet high, but spread out over the miles of the length of a tsunami, this adds up to billions upon billions of gallons of water. When you're looking at topography of an island, or places with flood plains, like most of the areas hit, this 30 odd foot wall of water will splash and flow inland for miles, with cataclysmic force. One pint of water alone weighs a pound. This adds up quickly. So you've already esentially got a giant hammer smashing into the land mass. Now add to this the amount of human habitation around coastal areas. That's where a lot of people congregate. Now add to the mix the fact that a lot of the people that are dead now, are poor, living in slums and hovels, that are absolutley no protection at all. Now say the geologists got a warning out. Who's gonna' get that warning (to probably ignore anyway) first? People in developed areas. It's like some little village without a phone is ever going to hear about this untill it looms over them and destroys them.

Firstly, if you're going to tell someone their grammar needs some work, at least be precise enough to spell g-r-a-m-m-a-r correctly. Secondly, you're needlessly rude with nothing substantial to back up your snobbery. That said, exit.
I figure if you live by a beach you know how to swim cause there is a chance of high tide....at least that would be the smart thing wouldn't it? LoL
