the show that never ends

Hi LJ. i kinda miss you. i definitely miss the community that used to be here. It had a different 'flavor' than other social media sites. In fact, each has its own distinct auric signature (if i may) and it seems as social media devolves, each new iteration becomes successively less unique, less special. Yes, this mean i also miss the email ( Read more... )

*nods* My online time has decreased a lot, too. But still, we are here, for whatever value of "here" that may be!~

Absolutely. The whole feeling of our communication nodes as "places" which had an energetic "flavor" seems to have gone by the wayside. For a while it lingered on in web boards and the like, and I still do speak of saying I do or don't like the atmosphere or environment in this or that place, but it's not the same somehow, not the same feeling of an astral location, if you will. And in fact trying to consciously construct one seems to be looked down on now.

Somehow, tho, almost none of the Otherkin folks made the transitionI have a few FB friends who are Otherkin but (aside from the very real fact I don't actually use the thing) there doesn't seem to be much discussion or gathering of that sort over there ( ... )

There's still a couple web boards i check in on - one for the local punk scene (circa my generation, i.e., late 70s-late 80s) and one related to the local burner contingent. Both have declined due to 'everyone' jumping to FB.. which does still have a flavour, imo; in the same way that McDonalds has a 'flavor ( ... )

There's still a community here... it's just gone from bein' a city to bein' more of a cluster of towns *chuckle* Not as busy, frantic and energetic as it used to be.
FB doesn't do the group discussion thing as easily as LJ so while a lot of Otherkin moved over there... it's more fragmented. And quieter. I don't mind that, to be honest. I see most otherkin in facetime.

I've over 800 friends on FB and I know 'em all. And talk with 'em all... frequently. And yet I spend less time online as real life has me busier. Well... mostly.

I don't tweet though. Or foursquare. Or anything else. FB was primarily for my DJing though it's evolved. I'm still here now and then. I bounce through. Periodically.
