Another Phonecall
This is for anyone who, for whatever reason, is spending Valentines Day alone. (Like me.)
ANOTHER PHONE CALL
"Ennis?"
"Hey Jack. Happy Valentines Day"
"You too. Thanks for the card. Did you get mine?"
"Sure did. And the present. Thanks."
"Have you had a good day?"
"No, dull. How about you?"
"Dull. Wish I was down there with you already"
"Me too, Little Otter, me too."
"Guess we'll have loads of Valentines days together soon enough wont we?"
"Guess so. That'll be nice."
"Yeah. I'll totally spoil you rotten"
"Will you?"
"Course I will Ennis"
"What you going to do then? Tell me about our valentines day in the future Little Otter"
"Ok.....let's think. I'll get up early. Go for a swim....."
"Of course"
"Of course. Then I'll make you breakfast in bed."
"Mmmm. What you gonna make me?"
"Dunno. What do you like? Chocolate chip pancakes?"
"Sounds awesome.Yummy! Then what?"
"Well, then , ermmm, maybe I'll, you know, get back into bed for a while..."
"Uh-huh. Sounds like a good idea"
"Ahem. Then you can go riding whilst I sort out a picnic"
"Picnic?"
"Yeah, coz when you've had enough riding...well not had enough coz you'll never have enough, but after you tire the horse out, you'll come back, and we'll go out somewhere for a nice picnic lunch. Then I'll give you your present and some chocolates I'll make for you"
"Woah. I get a present? And you're making me chocolates?"
"Yeah. Mrs Cullen got me a desert cook book and all the recipes look amazing. I want to eat the pages! I can't wait to try them out. And one of them is special home-made chocolates."
"And a present?"
"Yeah, something you can keep forever not just eat. Like a book, or a dvd, or something you really want. Whatever you want I'll get you it."
"OK. Cool. Lucky me. So picnic somewhere with all this stuff for me. Great. Where's the picnic?"
"I'm not sure. Maybe somewhere near a river or a lake, or, ooo, or maybe near the ocean? On a beach. That would be best. But like with no one else around....."
"I'm sure we can arrange that..."
"Then in the afternoon, we'll do something totally cool that you've always wanted to do."
"Like what?"
"Don't know. What have you always wanted to do?"
"Gosh I don't know. Be a vet was my main dream. Though I also used to want to be a pilot. Or an astronaut"
"Really?"
"Really."
"Wow. I never knew that"
"Never told anyone I don't think."
"Well ok then, not sure I can take you to the moon, but we'll go flying or something amazing like that in the afternoon. I bet you can do flights. Like over the Everglades or something? Wouldn't that be great? And then we'll get back and have dinner. Do you want dinner in or do you want to eat out?"
"Seems like you've already done a lot of cooking for me today so I say we eat out"
"OK, so we eat out somewhere fancy. Maybe have a drink."
"Really?"
"Well. You. Not me. But maybe I'll have one. Yes. No. I don't know. It is Valentines Day!"
"Hee hee. Yes!"
"And then. Well. I guess that's it. Home to bed?"
"Mmmm. Bed...."
"Yes. Home to bed. No, wait! I forgot. Flowers. At some stage I have to get you flowers! Oh and we have to go look at the stars. On our way home we'll stop and look at the stars. Oh, and...and....and we have to do something with animals. I don't know what, but animals make you happy. I guess there's the riding, but what else could we do? Maybe go visit a nature reserve or something? Hmmm. When are we going to fit that in? Gosh, so many things to plan for you Ennis....."
"Sounds perfect Little Otter I can't wait."
"I'll do all that for you Ennis. I promise. When we're in the same State for Valentines Day. I'll make it happen"
"I don't know what to say"
"I love you Ennis."
"I love you too Jack. Thank you for a lovely Valentines Day."
"But we didn't do anything....."
"Yeah we did. And it was lovely"
"......"
"I just feel bad that you did all that stuff for me. What about you? What do you want to do? Don't I get to spoil you?"
"I don't need spoiling, Ennis. If you're there, that's all I want. It's all I need. Just you Ennis. Always and forever"
"Always and forever. Night my sweet Jack."
They had many Valentines days together. None were exactly like that. But they were all just as perfect.
