Birthday
A soppy birthday drabble for people wishing to be with loved ones on their birthday.

Ennis got back to his sister's house late after a day of classes, practicals and then an evening studying in the library. He walked into the kitchen to find her stood by a giant parcel, smiling with a raised eyebrow. One glance at the label on the box confirmed what Ennis had guessed-it was from Jack. His sister squeezed his shoulders gently and said, "We'll have a drink and some food and you can do our presents in a little bit. But you open that one first I think, and take your time."
Ennis did take his time. Inside were 19 wrapped gifts, each in different crazy coloured and patterned paper and of varying size. There were also 20 envelopes labelled 1-19 and one saying 'Please read first'. Tearing it open Ennis found a birthday card. Inside along with the Birthday Message was an additional one from Jack:
'So, Happy 19th Birthday Ennis. I wish I was there to celebrate it with you. I really just wanted to get in the box myself and get mailed to Florida but I guess I can't do that. So instead I got you 19 things for all the years I haven't known you, and I've written down 19 things I love about you (actually there are 19 million but I have homework!), and that will have to do. Love you lots, will phone you on the day. Jack' followed by 19 kisses.
Setting that aside, Ennis started unwrapping gifts. Each one contained a personalised item with his first name, initials, or full name on it. Ennis got: a set of pencils, a variety of pens, a fancy pen, a pencil case to keep them all in, a torch, a razor, a complete tool set, a shot glass, a pint glass, a normal glass, a mug, keyring, wallet, a swiss-army knife, a small towel and also a camping set compromising of plastic cutlery, plates and containers. Jack must also have found some catalogue for veterinarians, or medical supplies because Ennis also unwrapped a stethoscope, a thermometer, and perhaps best of all, a pristine white laboratory coat with Dr E del Mar embroidered on the front.
Ennis then went onto the envelopes and the 19 reasons Jack loved him. They were

-Your Kindness
-Your Gentleness
-Your Understanding and patience
-Your Heart that let me in
-Your Strength and Determination
-Because you call me Little Otter and it means the world you have a special name for me
-Your -Your Passion and Knowledge for animals
-Your Eyes
-Your Smile and laugh
-Your Freckles
-Your whole beautiful face
-Your gentle but firm hands. I miss them round me at night.
-Your chest. The best pillow in the world.
-Every other bit of you
-Knowing you know all there is to know about me
-Telling you I love you and hearing it back
-For being my soul mate
-Reassurance that there will be many many more birthdays we'll have together.
Stopping himself for heading off right then and there to get to his Jack, and be with his Little Otter, Ennis had a lump in his throat as he reached for his phone to call him.
