Been obsessing about make-up for some time now, so this post is pretty overdue. I'm still a long way from my ideal kit but here's what I've been content on owning for my daily look so far:

Oooh, I want to try the Skin Food thing. Must hunt to see if they carry it here. I use the Lancome liner too (if I'm in a hurry), it really does transform your look.
My suggestions: - the Covergirl Lash Blast is nice (the yellow tube; although the orange one is nice also) - Shu Uemura has a great sheer pressed powder - and try the NARS lip gloss in Orgasm or one of the Lancome Juicy Tubes

Yes skin food is a pretty okay brand, with the price and all :) Very healthy for our type of skin. Check out the site, they have a lot of interesting products.
I've tried the Shu pressed powder and I really liked it! It had the best, least obvious coverage - i have reddish, rash-prone skin and it really did a good job in covering it up. And it was really smooth. Sorry, i got really excited. Haha. :p I will also buy as soon as my current one runs out.

Speaking of pressed powders, I just asked my Mum to buy me J&J. For old time's sake, if nothing else. I've a prob with redness too; looking for green powder to aid it. The green neutralizes the red :)
