Why do vacations days go by so fast? unfair!
I have several Luau fics that I just need to edit and post. It's been hard to finish stuff lately! The lovely
hopelessfangirl asked for "undead" and "holidays" and for once this got out relatively easily. I can't shake the feeling that it's slightly OOC (I feel I am channeling other characters, to be honest), but I hope you like it.
Title: Itinerary
Characters: Jack/Sawyer
Word count: 714 words, rated PG
Summary: Sawyer has decided that Jack needs a vacation.
Note: For
hopelessfangirl who wanted "holidays" and "undead" (Jack made it out the Island in this one, yes yes. In fact, I am using this for my
au_bingo square for "Alternate history: someone never died").
"OK, fine! Where?"
Sawyer gapes at him. Jack rolls his eyes.
"What, are you mute now? I said I'd go," Jack says petulantly.
At last Sawyer shuts his mouth, but he squints at Jack.
"Let me get this straight. You just agreed to take some vacation," he says, disbelieving.
Jack puts his hands on his hips. He hates when Sawyer plays stupid.
"Wasn't it the point of the whole argument? You say I work too much and that we should take a couple of weeks off. I just said OK."
Sawyer smiles, pleased, and it's one of the smiles that reaches his eyes so Jack relaxes. Maybe it's true, there have been several weeks with too many long days and he hadn't realized it bothered Sawyer that much.
"We can go wherever you want," Sawyer says and he lounges back on the couch, stretching his legs to cross them at the ankles. Jack sits down too, trying to think.
"No beaches," Jack says.
For obvious reasons; Sawyer nods.
"Agreed. I sort of want to avoid Australia," Sawyer says. "They wouldn't be welcoming."
Since Oz is definitely tainted with bad memories, Jack hand-waves it.
"Fine, I wasn't interested anyway. In fact, let's cross out every tropical destination and the Far East. Done it, better to stay away," Jack says. "Anywhere you've always wanted to see since you were a kid?"
Getting Sawyer to talk of his childhood is like pulling teeth, but this time he shrugs.
"Well there was Egypt," he says. He then frowns. "I'm not sure I want to see any temple or shit, though."
Sound argument. What next?
"Europe?" Jack asks. Europe sounds nice, and at first glance not linked with bad memories. "I've always wanted to see London."
Sawyer makes a humming sound.
"Yeah, though... I dunno. I..." he stops, unusually tentative and throws Jack a sideways glance. "I'd see Charlie everywhere."
Charlie and Sawyer had been closer than Jack had realized, so he doesn't push.
"OK, maybe another year. Where in Europe then?" Jack asks.
"Amsterdam!" Sawyer says with a grin.
Jack laughs.
"You just want an excuse to get high!"
"Not at all," Sawyer says, making an innocent face. "I just want an excuse to get you high! Nuance!"
"Maybe we should think of something closer," Jack muses. "Nothing complicated, just fun."
"We could go fishing," Sawyer says.
"You fish?" Jack asks, surprised. He doesn't remember him doing so on the island.
"Sometimes," Sawyer says with a shrug.
Jack's not really a fan, though.
"What about some spa place with massages, hot springs, the whole shebang?" Jack asks. He's pretty sure Sawyer would enjoy that; it would probably be good for him, too.
Sawyer does look interested.
"Really? That could be nice," he says, but then narrow his eyes. "The phone would stay in the room and you'd be allowed only one hour a day to catch up with whatever is on it."
The prospect is a bit frightening, getting so out of touch, but on the other hand Jack's ready to try his best to make whatever he's building with Sawyer work. Jack blew it with Sarah because he was more involved with his work than with her, and he doesn't want to repeat the same errors. This whole thing with Sawyer is working out surprisingly well, and he wants to keep it. If that means no phone? No phone it will be. He can do it.
"Deal," Jack says, reaching forward to shake on it, but Sawyer uses his grip on Jack's hand to pull him forward.
Jack ends up sprawled on top of him, which was obviously what Sawyer was going for judging by the dimples.
"Hey," he says when Jack manages to look up.
"Hi," Jack answers, and Sawyer frames his face between his hands before kissing Jack deep and thorough. It's sweet, full of promises and just a little lewd.
"It's going to be the best vacations ever, you'll see," Sawyer say with a sly smile. "Massages, sex, pampering, sex, eating and then more sex."
Jack laughs.
"Gosh, I hope there's sex!" he says before kissing Sawyer softly. Jack then shifts so he's settled comfortably enough for some quality make out time. Yes, this vacation thing could be a good idea; Jack smiles again. "I can't wait."
