I am writing an article about Hookah on campus.

I understand why they might not want them being used in the dorms. Hell, they don't let cigarettes in the dorms anymore.

But if they're going to allow people to smoke cigs on campus, how is Hookah any different? There are no Hallucinogens in them, it's just tobacco.

I need a little more information about what you're talking about. What swaying does the admin need? I've never heard their position on hookahs. In fact, can't you register a hookah to be kept at security so that you're permitted to smoke it outside when you want? It's not ideal, and I'm not going to check mine in, but it's far from being anti-hookah.

Yes, but this year there's an option to register your hookah at security and leave it there until you want to check in out and smoke it outside.

I don't understand why they're banned. what's goucher's reasons for banning them?

They think we'll smoke pot out of them. That's their main concern when they confiscate one. "Do you smoke weed out of this?"

i have no issue with it outside of the dorms. As a cigarette smoker, I can comprehend that others who don't smoke cigarettes or hookah, wouldn't appreciate it in the dorms. I'm very understanding of that all.
However, I just don't see it as a problem if it's in the open air. As for the smoking pot thing, Lord knows how many times people have gotten away with it in the open air. Security cannot inspect every cigarette or tobacco pipe to check if it's filled with marijuana. So having a hookah wouldn't facilitate that process. I'm sure that having a hookah would make someone seem like more of a target to be inspected, so I think everyone who has one can use it responsibly if they're smart about it.
