Yeah I need to get a mid-range snapshot camera. I have a high-end film SLR (Canon EOS 3) and a low-end Nikon digital point and shooter that I originally bought for eBay/craigslist/etc. I need something that fits in the pocket, but still takes decent pictures.

BTW: They had this thing where you'd take pictures without instant gratification -- it was called _film_.

Sorry, had to. ;-)

Haha, I was actually talking to a friend about it and would use my camera and think of it as a film one if it only had a view finder, but man, if I can not at least see where I am pointing my pictures are pretty much shot, er, not well placed or focused.

I have come pretty used to the digital instant gratification. Call me a product of my silly NOW generation, but I like it. So there, you can take your film back to the olden times where it belongs! :)

Oh yeah, I forgot about the viewfinder. doh....

And hey, I'm not _that_ much older than you (I'm newly 29)! I'm just too cheap to go digital SLR -- especially when awesome film SLRs are SOOO cheap on ebay. ;-)

This is my now 10 month old son's first picture. This was on the SLR, just 1 shot, not cropped/edited/etc. I was really surprised by how well the framing turned out -- and by the atomic look of the high power flash at close range.

You have yourself a budding photographer on your hands!

I really do love film cameras, making every picture count instead of just taking countless random ones to see what works. I might have to check out getting one just to play with and probably buy a bunch of film before it becomes extinct.

We never did meet up. Would you like to meet for tea or something this next week or so? We can geek out on Dvorak, cameras, and Texas!
